Understanding HIV & AIDS
HIV attacks the immune system. Without treatment, it can progress to AIDS. With todayโs medications, people living with HIV can live long, healthy, and full lives.
What doctors say
Regular testing is the first step. Early treatment with antiretroviral therapy (ART) keeps the virus under control. Doctors stress that undetectable = untransmittable (U=U), meaning proper treatment prevents spreading the virus to others.
Counseling, prevention & checkups
Counseling supports individuals and couples navigating the diagnosis. Yearly physicals and adherence to treatment maintain health and prevent complications. Prevention tools like PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) are available for those at higher risk.
Breaking stigma
Communities must replace stigma with compassion. Churches, families, and workplaces can provide safe spaces for education, testing, and care.
Declaration: I am not defined by my status. I choose life, strength, and hope each day.
Prayer: Lord, bring healing to bodies, comfort to hearts, and an end to stigma and fear. Empower us to walk in love and truth. Amen.
